Introduction
WS type silica alumina gel also known as silica alumina oxide gel WS or silica gel WS, is a special-purpose adsorbent material which combines the high specific surface area of silica gel with the surface polarity of alumina, but emphasizes a comprehensive balance of adsorption capacity and adsorption strength.
WS usually stands for Water Stable, Water Susceptible or Water Suspensible, meaning that the WS type silica gel can be dispersed in water without hydrolysis or fragmentation, and it is particularly applicable to water-phase adsorption systems. WS silica alumina gel can maintain particle integrity even when exposed to liquid water or high humidity air for extended periods. So silica gel H can also be considered as water resistant silica gel or water-proof silica gel.
Type WS silica gel possesses high adsorption capacity, good thermal stability, moderate pore structure, strong polar sites, and excellent adsorption performance for both polar and weakly polar molecules. Its adsorption capacity under high humidity conditions is far superior to that of type A, type B and type C silica gels. Therefore, typical applications of silica gel WS include PSA air pre-purification, air separation units, compressed air drying, and etc.
