Introduction

 

Zeolite catalyst RE-USY (Rare Earth exchanged Ultra-Stable Y) or RE-USY molecular sieve, is obtained by modifying USY zeolite through ion exchange with rare-earth ions such as La3+ and Ce3+. It combines the high thermal and hydrothermal stability of USY with the enhanced acidity and structural stability resulting from rare-earth modification.

 

RE-USY molecular sieve has a FAU topology, featuring characteristic 12-membered ring channels and large supercage structures. While USY itself undergoes dealumination and stabilization, the subsequent introduction of rare-earth ions further enhances framework stability of RE-USY. Rare-earth modification increases both the number and strength of acidic sites, endowing RE-USY with excellent cracking activity. Compared to USY, RE-USY also exhibits higher hydrogen transfer activity, which favors the production of gasoline fractions.

 

RE-USY zeolite catalyst is the key active component of FCC catalysts, it promotes the cracking of macromolecular hydrocarbons such as heavy oil and vacuum gas oil, primarily yielding products like gasoline, LPG, and light olefins. Additionally, RE-USY zeolite can be utilized in the catalytic cracking of heavy oil and residuum, in hydrocracking catalysts for petroleum hydrocarbons, and in the cracking and isomerization of macromolecular hydrocarbons.
