Introduction
Activated alumina dechlorination adsorbent, is a kind of aluminum oxide specially designed for removal of chlorine or chloride impurities in gases or liquids. It has a strong adsorption capacity for free chlorine and hydrogen chloride gas, and also has the ability to catalyze the decomposition of organic chlorine (such as methylene dichloride).
As a dechlorination adsorbent, activated alumina adsorbs and immobilizes acidic chlorides such as hydrogen chloride, converting them into stable aluminum chloride through surface chemical reactions to achieve efficient, irreversible dechlorination. Activated alumina offers advantages such as high dechlorination capacity, rapid reaction kinetics, high mechanical strength, and low pressure drop, making it suitable for continuous fixed-bed processes.
Activated alumina for dechlorination possesses strong adsorption capacity, large specific surface area, well-developed pore structure and good thermal stability, etc. And it is typically used for removal of hydrogen chloride in the petroleum and petrochemical industries, also used for making chlorinated alkanes on taking off hydrogen chloride to produce olefins.
