Introduction

Zeolite catalyst Beta or β zeolite molecular sieve, is a synthetic zeolite with a crystal type of BEA. It has a three-dimensional cross-porous structure, and its skeleton is composed of tetrahedral silicate and aluminum oxide units. In the pore system of Beta zeolite, the pore size of linear channels is 0.66 nm×0.67 nm, while the pore size of curved channels is 0.56 nm×0.56 nm.

Beta zeolite is prepared in an alkaline hydrothermal synthesis system using tetraethylammonium hydroxide (TEAOH) as a template. It is mainly applied in the following (not limited to) fields:

In petrochemicals, Beta zeolite is used as FCC catalyst and hydrocracking catalyst, together with its pore characteristics, to obtain selective oil products; or used for isomerization of linear paraffins, to increase the octane number of gasoline.
In fine chemicals, Beta zeolite is used as an additive to produce ethylbenzene and isopropylbenzene, through the alkylation of benzene and olefins; to increase the aromatics content of gasoline, through the aromatization of n-hexane.
In environmental protection, Beta zeolite is used for automobile exhaust emission control, industrial waste gas purification, and emission reduction of VOCs, NOx, N₂O and other gases.
