Introduction
B type silica gel or silica gel B, is an amorphous, highly active adsorbent material with the mild pore size distribution. Its pore size lies between that of type A silica gel and type C silica gel, with an average pore size of approximately 4~7 nm, which is characteristic of mesoporous silica gel. The medium-pore of silica gel B is achieved through specific control of aging temperature and duration.
Type B silica gel has a slower absorption rate and lower absorption capacity compared to the type A silica gel under low humidity conditions. It is more suitable for high humidity environments due to its strong adsorption capacity, and possesses the humidity-regulating ability.
Type B silica gel is mainly used for storing humidity-sensitive items (cultural relics, archives, furniture, instruments, seeds, etc.), or as packaging desiccant for food and medicine, as well as for carrier materials of fragrances and catalysts.
