Zeolite molecular sieves are one of the adsorbent materials in industrial air drying and air compressor filter systems, mainly employed to remove moisture from gases to ensure system safety, product purity, and equipment lifespan.

Industrial Air Drying System

Generally, industrial air need to be dried before transportation or use, because moisture can cause: corrosion of equipment and pipelines; freezing and blocking of valves or instruments; and affecting the purity of the gas and the reaction effect.

Industrial Air Drying Compressor Filter System

Industrial air drying involves various gases (such as hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, natural gas, carbon dioxide, argon, etc.), which are commonly applicated in chemical, air separation, electronics, and energy processes. They have strict requirements for gas purity and drying depth, and the design of drying systems is also relatively complex.

Adsorption Compressed Air Dryer

The compressor air dryer is one of the common devices used for industrial air drying. Its main function is to remove moisture from "compressed air". And adsorption compressed air dryer, typically employ a dual-tower alternating operation, using molecular sieves or activated alumina to adsorb moisture.

In this application, moisture and impurities in compressed air are removed through physical adsorption. And the molecular sieve adsorbent is the core component, with its precise adsorption capacity and stability ensuring that the air source is dry and clean.

However, the "air compressor" itself is a power source device, the molecular sieves are usually not directly installed inside the compressor, but rather are placed in the subsequent equipment that uses compressed air for drying or separation.

Adsorption compressed air dryers remove moisture using adsorbents such as molecular sieves and activated alumina, and the dew point can be lowered to -40℃ to -70℃, which are suitable for high dryness industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, precision manufacturing, semiconductors and etc.

Molecular Sieves For Industrial Air Drying

Zeolite molecular sieves used for industrial air drying need to be selected based on gas composition, water content, adsorption and regeneration conditions, and the target dew point. Sometimes, not only water needs to be removed, but other impurities also need to be taken into consideration.

Type 3A, 4A, 5A and 13X Zeolite Molecular Sieves are also remain commonly used adsorbent desiccant, which can be selectively utilized depending on different operating conditions. Molecular sieves have larger surface areas, and their pore size distribution is very uniform and has good adsorption selectivity, which is suitable for deep drying compared to activated alumina.

Activated Alumina is also an important adsorbent desiccant in industrial air drying, with a greater water adsorption capacity. However, its pore size distribution is simple and surface area is limited, which needs to be combined with molecular sieves to achieve the drying effect.
